About Seema Kazi Rangnekar
Hello, I am Seema, qualified childbirth, lactation, prenatal, postnatal fitness, nutrition coach and educator from CAPPA, USA. I am also a mother of two children.
The seeds of Samã were sown with the birth of my daughter fourteen years ago. My personal childbirth experiences made me notice the lack of knowledge and support during pregnancy. All at once, I sensed an urgent need to know about pregnancy as an insider rather than as a purveyor. I began equipping myself with knowledge, and three years later, my son was born naturally without any medical interventions.
I realized that my positive childbirth experience was linked not only to the information I was now armed with but also due to my faith in my body. After sixteen years in a corporate job with a multinational firm, I sensed that it was time to move on and communicate the many benefits of childbirth information and fitness during pregnancy, and healing through fitness in the postnatal phase.
Pregnancy is a small miracle, and I feel very strongly about sensitizing women to all its wonder—in other words, educating and supporting them right from preconception, through conception and after. I wish to empower mothers-to-be through such knowledge, while also passing on my passion for fitness and nutrition. The hope is that women get to soak in a beautiful and new phase without fear or trepidation.
Certifications
In 2011, I certified myself as a Pregnancy Fitness and Nutrition Educator from CAPPA. CAPPA is the world’s largest childbirth and postpartum association. This was subsequently followed by a certificate as a childbirth and lactation educator from CAPPA, USA. I’m also a HUG trainer, helping parents to understand their newborns.
What we offer
As part of my private practice—Samã Birthing & Beyond—we conduct pregnancy education, fitness and nutrition, lactation counselling and baby weaning sessions.
We offer special couples sessions for husbands as effective birth support partners and future parents. In addition to this, we offer meditation and visualization classes to help mums and dads prepare for labour and birthing.
Since 2011, I have worked with more than 1,000 couples supporting them through their journey of parenthood.
Besides, I work as a birth support partner for various clients at Hinduja Hospital, Khar, Breach Candy Hospital and Ambani Hospital. I support mothers throughout birthing, labour and the postpartum phase.
I have also conducted several antenatal care sessions for clients of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, Hinduja Hospital, Surya Hospital, Aarush IVF Maternity Hospital, among others.
Trainings & Workshops
Since November 2015, I have been a part of the CAPPA faculty in India, teaching a thorough pregnancy, fitness and nutrition programme. From April 2018, I became a part of the faculty of CAPPA’s childbirth educator programme—a course offered to those who aspire to teach pregnancy, fitness and childbirth sessions.
